To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the births of Reger and Rachmaninoff, Kazushi Ohno will present a program with a unique twist.
One of Reger's masterpieces, "Four Sound Poems by Becklin," which expresses scenes and impressions from the paintings of Swiss Symbolist painter Arnold Becklin, is one of Ono's favorites, having taken a deep interest in Reger's music for many years, including attending the Max Reger Institute there while he was general music director of the State Theater Karlsruhe-Baden. Ohno has been deeply interested in Reger's music for many years. Rachmaninoff specialist Lugansky will perform the young Rachmaninoff's fresh Op. 1 in a version revised after he became a major composer. In the second half of the concert, Schumann's Fourth Symphony, also revised in later years to a higher degree of perfection. The varied selection of music will bring us closer to the emotions of the composers.
