Highlights
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Akira Miyoshi's death, this special event will celebrate his great contribution to the world of music. Percussionist Kuniko Kato, who studied with Miyoshi when he was president of Toho Gakuen School of Music and is active globally, will plan and supervise the two-day Music Day event. Old and new generations will come together to perform together in a cross-genre concert.
The event will include French works that trace back to Miyoshi's works, piano pieces for children, chamber music including songs and percussion, and the creation of a player's body to recreate a taiko drum piece he wrote in his later years.
The show will also include a new work and the creative process of "Ban" (written by Junichiro Tanizaki, music by Akira Miyoshi), a music theater piece with Benefumi Nakamura. We would like to look back on the great works left to us by the person and character of Akira Miyoshi, transcending generations and genres, together with the performers who will lead the next generation, and pass them on to the future. - Noriko Kato
