Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra The 145th Subscription Concert Unofficial

The soloist is Makoto Ozone, a very popular jazz pianist from Kobe!

Karthun Wong has appeared at the PAC subscription concerts for two consecutive seasons and is steadily increasing his fan base. This time, he will be performing with Kobe-born, world-renowned jazz pianist Makoto Ozone!
The first half is Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1. Officially titled "Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings," as the name suggests, the piano is joined by a trumpet solo. The solo trumpet is played by Ottaviano Cristofori, a graduate member of PAC and currently the solo trumpet of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Please pay attention to him as well as the piano.
The second half of the concert will feature Mahler's Symphony No. 5, one of Karthun Wong's most important repertoire. The piece begins with a funeral march, and the fourth movement, "Adagietto," was made famous when it was used as the theme music for the movie "Death in Venice. Please enjoy the sound produced by the chemical reaction between the deep sculpting of his works and PAC.
