During the Baroque period, "music for the table" was the music used by the nobility when they dined at banquets. Various composers composed "music for the table," the most famous of which is Telemann's work published in 1733.
In this program, we will enjoy a dinner inspired by a dinner party held in the city hall of Hamburg in the 18th century, with Telemann's "Music for the Table" as the music accompaniment.
Yoshio Ito, Executive Chef of Hotel Monterey Group, will supervise the cuisine, which will be a recreation of 18th century German cuisine.
The performance will be led by Takeharu Nobuhara, a leading conductor in the world of Japanese classical music, and the Telemann Chamber Orchestra. Telemann's "Music at the Table," which consists of three collections, will be digested and presented for this project.
