Japan Philharmonic Orchestra The 754th Subscription Concert in Tokyo Unofficial

From September 2023, Karthun Wong will finally assume the position of Chief Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic. For the subscription concert, we will present a unique program focusing on his life's work, Mahler and Asia. We hope you will join us on this musical journey with Maestro Wong. For his inaugural performance, Maestro Wong will perform Mahler's 3rd symphony, the second largest of his works after the 8th symphony. It is a unique work filled with various elements such as Mahler's view of life and death, yearning for nature, and nostalgia. Wong and the Japan Philharmonic, who have already given masterful performances of Symphonies No. 5 and No. 4, will be performing Mahler's works. Mezzo-soprano Makiko Yamashita, the Harmonia Ensemble and the Tokyo Boys and Girls Choir will join them to recreate Mahler's magnificent sound universe.
