The Berlin Philharmonic, the world's premier orchestra, is coming to Japan for the first time in four years. The Berliner Philharmoniker will perform a total of 10 concerts from November 14 (Tue) to 26 (Sun) in six cities across Japan (Takamatsu, Nagoya, Himeji, Osaka, Tokyo, and Kawasaki). The first concert in Takamatsu (Kagawa Prefecture) will be the first in 57 years, and the first in Himeji (Hyogo Prefecture).
Since its first visit to Japan in 1957, the orchestra has given 23 concerts in Japan. Herbert von Karajan, Seiji Ozawa, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Simon Rattle, and Zubin Mehta, who conducted the orchestra during its last visit to Japan, have brought the finest sounds of their era to Japan.
This will be the long-awaited first visit to Japan with Kirill Petrenko, who will assume the position of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2019 and has already established an unshakeable relationship of trust with the orchestra.
