The Ikegami Wind Ensemble is a brass band for working people based in Ikegami, Ota-ku, Tokyo.
The Ikegami Wind Ensemble has no parent organization like an "alumni band," but has expanded its circle of friends who enjoy music through musical connections, and is celebrating its 38th anniversary.
We have a total of 45 members ranging in age from teens to 70s, and we practice every week.
The 41st concert featured a variety of American composers and a diverse range of American music and culture.
The first part of the concert opened with a song that evokes a majestic scene of nature, followed by a typical American folk song that has been sung for a long time, and then the second part of the concert began with "Armenian Dance Part 1" and "Armenian Dance Part 2".
The first part, "Armenian Dance Part 1," was written by Mr. Bijan, whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from Armenia, who asked Mr. Reed to compose a brass band piece based on an Armenian folk song.
The second part of the concert will feature Disney songs. In 2023, the year of Disney's 100th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort, we will take you to the world of dreams and magic.
The third part will feature a symphonic dance from the musical "West Side Story" as the main piece!
Although there are many immigrants living in the U.S. today, this program will make you think back to the land, scenery, people, songs, and stories from long ago.
We hope that you will be able to receive various emotional landscapes through the music of Ikegami Wind.
We look forward to seeing you at the concert.
