This is a workshop in which participants are asked to experience special chanting techniques with their own voices and bodies, and to experiment to see if their hearing of music changes before and after the experience.

Participants will enjoy experiencing the "special singing technique" (a technique to produce various sounds using the body) with Ms. Karei Fujita, a soprano singer based in Germany.

Conditions for participation:
Anyone is welcome to participate (no musical knowledge or knowledge of sheet music is required, and no prior performance experience is necessary).
(No musical knowledge or knowledge of sheet music is required, and no previous performance experience is necessary!
(Even those who have never been exposed to contemporary music are welcome! (Preschool children are free of charge.)

This workshop will not involve analysis of works based on compositional, historical, or other specialized knowledge of music.
It is an attempt to access contemporary music, which is often considered a bit difficult, with the physical knowledge of vocalization possessed by the participants.

Even if you have no special training, if you have vocal experience, your body, which has been with you since birth, is equipped with advanced skills to perform vocal acts.
This is evidenced by the fact that you can manipulate your pronunciation in your daily life to speak freely and express your emotions by changing your vocal tone.
Why don't you use these physical skills to "listen" to music?

This workshop does not require any musical expertise or experience.
We welcome those who have no performance experience or knowledge of music or notation.

By approaching music in the light of your own physical knowledge, rather than analyzing it through specialized knowledge of music, you may find yourself in a different position than others in terms of segmenting the music and giving different meanings to the sounds.

I would like to explore with you a way of listening that is true to your own body, not the way someone else gives you to listen, a way of listening to music that can be heard only by you.
Join us in exploring new possibilities for music listening.
