The organizer has been involved in music education in junior high schools for more than 30 years, and at the same time has been involved in many orchestra and opera performances. What grew out of these experiences was a desire to create a place where children and adults could learn together through music.
The commemorative chorus that performed at the 20th anniversary celebration of the founding of the junior high school in Kyoto where I work last October was a true embodiment of this desire. The 50-member chorus, which included student volunteers, PTA and community members, as well as faculty and staff volunteers, sang "Miracle" and "To the Future," which were also on the day's program.
Thus, we planned this "Midsummer Night's Concert" as an opportunity for children and adults to join their voices together through choral singing and experience the joy and wonder of musical expression that transcends generations. We would like to provide an opportunity to think together about the role that music can play in this world by bringing the voices of the "Midsummer Night's Chorus" and our wonderful soloists to you.
