Hirosaki University Tsugaru Shamisen Circle was formed in 2005. Today, it is one of the largest university Tsugaru shamisen groups in Japan with about 60 members.

Miho, an instrumentalist based in Seattle, USA (lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University), and Diego, a quena/sampoña player (winner of the Columbia Folklore Grand Prize), are a duo. They have won the King County Arts Award in Washington State five times.
