The "OTONOGATARI" storytelling concert was started to familiarize and deepen the public's appreciation of music. This is the sixth Music Terakoya concert featuring world-renowned viola player Junichiro Murakami. This is a very popular program that attracts more and more fans every year who are captivated by Mr. Murakami's beautiful and deep tone and words that get to the heart of the matter.

The first half of this year's program will feature "Song of Reeds," written by mid-19th century German composer August Kurkhardt and inspired by a poem by the poet Rainau. Mr. Murakami will explain how he was able to express in music the poem by Lenau, which was also used by Schumann, Mendelssohn, Liszt, and Strauss, and how he was able to put the already completed poem to music, adding a new depth to it and conveying it from the ear to the whole body. Murakami will explain the beauty of the work. After the commentary, you will listen to all the pieces in a lecture-concert format under the theme of "words and music. The second half will be Mozart's Concerto Symphony. The string sextet version of this widely known piece spins out a fresh sound and ensemble.

The rehearsal of this piece, which is one of the best parts of the Music Terakoya, will also be open to the public! During the rehearsal, we will take time to savor further details of Krutthardt's work. We hope you will join us for five days of passionate discussions about what music is and what life is all about, enjoying each other's company, and savoring the music. We hope you will enjoy it. (Organizer: Sachiko Hongo)

Please come and join us for an exciting five days of music, fun, and enjoyment!
