The University of Tokyo Music Department Orchestra Summer Concert 2023

　We, the University of Tokyo Music Department Orchestra (Todai Orchestra), are the only orchestra of the University of Tokyo composed entirely of students of the University of Tokyo. We tour throughout Japan every summer, and this year we are scheduled to perform four concerts in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, and Fukuoka. This is the first time in five years that the orchestra will perform in Osaka!
　The program for this concert includes an overture based on the well-known fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel," followed by "Variations on a Theme by Haydn," a piece in which the simple theme is colorfully transformed and Brahms' technique is elaborate. The main program is Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 with its beautiful and emotional melody, which was the subject of a TV drama this year. We all look forward to seeing you at the concert.
