Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra's 16th Chamber Music Series Unofficial

The "Afternoon of Masterpieces" series of weekday noon chamber music concerts by the principal players of the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra has been a great success every year. The 16th concert of the series, which marks the 210th anniversary of Verdi's birth in 2023, will feature a program of important chamber music works by Verdi and Puccini, both of whom were at the height of their careers in Italian opera.
Verdi and Puccini, two composers from the heyday of Italian opera, left only a few chamber music pieces, but it is not widely known that they are as masterpieces as the operas they composed. The string quartet, Verdi's only extant chamber work, was written at about the same time as the "Aida". It is an orthodox quartet with a high sense of structure, but at the same time, there are moments of passionate development, as if it were an opera, and you can't help but think, "This is Verdi! One can't help but think, "This is Verdi! Joining the quartet is the string quartet "Chrysanthemum," one of the few chamber pieces that Puccini, also an opera writer, wrote at the same time as "Manon Lescaut. Then, we can hear that melody that everyone knows, the string quintet including that famous "Menuetto" by Boccherini (280th anniversary of his birth) and Respighi's most famous chamber music, the third suite of "Ancient Dances and Arias for Lute".
