La Folle Journée was born in the French port city of Nantes in 1995 and arrived in Tokyo in 2005 as La Folle Journée au Japon. 2007 saw over 1 million visitors, and by 2019 a total of 8.66 million people had visited the festival. It has grown to become one of the largest music festivals in the world.
Children are welcome at La Folle Journée. While most classical concerts are open to children of elementary school age and older, La Folle Journée has been open to preschool children since 2005, when the festival was first held, in the hope that they will be exposed to real music at a young age. Please feel free to bring your children.
The annual "Concert from Age 0" will be held again this year. Nursing rooms and a diaper changing area are available, so please feel free to come. Please enjoy classical music with your ears and body by moving your body and feeling the rhythm, surrounded by the rich sound of the orchestra!
