Born in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture in 1967, Masashi Akikawa began playing the violin and piano at the age of four.
Later, under the guidance of his father, he switched to vocal music. After studying at Kunitachi College of Music and its academy under the guidance of Ken Nakamura
After studying with Ken Nakamura at the Kunitachi College of Music and its academy, she spent four years in Parma, Italy, studying with Delio Pollenghi.
In 1998, she won the first prize in the Canzone Competition and the highest prize in the Japan Classical Music Competition. In 2005, she released an album, "Dignity", and became the first classical singer in history to reach No. 1 on the Oricon Singles Chart with the song "Sen no Kaze ni Neri (Become a Thousand Winds)" included in the album.
It sold 1.3 million copies and reached No. 1 on the Oricon chart for the year. In the same year, she won a special award at the 47th Japan Record Awards.
In 2008, she won the Gold Disc Award and the Golden Arrow Award.
In 2007 and 2008, they participated in the MHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Singing Contest) consecutively.
In 2011, she released the single "Asu to Kono Hi ga" (Asu is the Day). In February 2014, Masashi Akikawa released his first best album.
August 2014: Performed the role of Don Jose in the opera "Carmen" at the New National Theatre Opera Palace. He is currently the most talented and popular tenor singer.
