The ensemble was founded in March 2014 under the leadership of Dr. Goichi Hiramatsu. This year marks the 10th year since its formation.
It was founded by Dr. Hiramatsu, who was an instructor of Showa Junior High School and High School Chorus Club attached to Showa Women's University, and the club members at that time. During its junior and senior high school years, the club won the Gold Prize in the preliminary round and the Silver Prize in the final round of the Junior High School Division of the 80th NHK National School Music Competition in Tokyo, as well as the Gold Prize in the Senior High School Division of the 66th All Japan Chorus Competition, Tokyo Branch.


About "Goichi Hiramatsu, Conductor
Goichi Hiramatsu graduated from the instrumental music department of Tokyo University of the Arts. He studied clarinet under Katsusuke Mishima and Kunio Chiba. After performing freelance with the Tokyo Symphonic Band and others, he taught at junior high schools, high schools, and universities. As a chorus instructor, he has also possessed outstanding beliefs and techniques, and has led the Tokyo Metropolitan Yashio High School Chorus to two national gold awards at the NHK National School Music Competition, two national silver awards at the All Japan Chorus Competition, and numerous other awards.
In 1982, he formed the Hiramatsu Mixed Chorus. He has been active as a leader and conductor of the group. He won the Gold Prize in the All Japan Chorus Competition. In Vienna, he won the second prize and a special prize at the Schubert International Chorus Competition. In 2022, he will hold a concert to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Hiramatsu Mixed Chorus and the 50th anniversary of his career in choral music. He has premiered many composers to high acclaim. He has premiered more than 200 works. He teaches choral music throughout Japan and serves as a judge for the All Japan Chorus Competition.
