Salicus Kammerchor has been working on the music of Heinrich Schütz since the 6th Regular Concert. This year's concert, vol. 3 of this series, will feature works related to "funerals and memorial services. Schütz lived in the midst of the 30 Years War, and at the age of 87, which was quite a long life for his time, he was faced with many deaths of people close to him. He very often composed motets to mourn their deaths. The title of this concert is taken from the poet Paul Fleming, who said, "Your name, Schütz, releases the dead from death.
In this day and age when we are still unable to stop pestilence and war, it is not futile to ponder how Schütz, our predecessor, viewed death and how he sublimated it into his art. We hope that you will be able to experience life and death through the works of Schutz, which cannot be ignored when discussing Schutz with us this time.
