Harufutei Shota, one of Japan's most well-known and ticketed rakugo storytellers as the host of "Laugh Point," is such a music lover that he plays trombone in a Dixieland jazz band called "Niueiranzu" that he formed with his Yose colleagues.
Jazz and rakugo have been known to go hand in hand, but what would happen if a classical orchestra and rakugo were mixed?
This is a collaboration of Rakugo and classical music that no one has ever seen before in the history of Rakugo, which is said to have started in the late Muromachi period (1333-1573).
Daisuke Mogi, famous for his "Nodame Cantabile Concert," will serve as conductor and musical director.
The "Secrets of the Orchestra" revealed by the duo of Shota and Daisuke will be sure to entertain even complete beginners to classical music.
The event will be held at the Shinjuku Bunka Center near the Shinjuku Suehiro-tei Theater, which is associated with the Rakugo Art Association.
