The Hiroshima Musikverein Strings, a professional string ensemble organized by the Hiroshima Musikverein, will give its second performance.
This time, the concertmaster will be Masaaki Tanokura, former concertmaster of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, who is currently active as solo concertmaster of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and concertmaster of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra.
This year's concert will feature the Czech Republic, which will celebrate the anniversary of the birth of W. Smetana next year.
The year 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of Smetana's birth and the 150th anniversary of Suk's birth.
As a festival for the previous year, the festival will be held one year ahead of schedule, featuring "Vyšehrad (The High Castle)" and "Vltava (Moldau)" from Smetana's immortal masterpiece "My Homeland," in a string ensemble version of Naoyuki Hayashi's original arrangements. The program will also feature Naoyuki Hayashi's original arrangement of Suk's Serenade for Strings, which has not been performed very often. In addition, a rare masterpiece by Dvořák will be performed.
