We have decided to start up a brass band group that plans to become a professional group in the future, consisting mainly of students and graduates of Showa University of Music. We have gathered at the university from all over Japan, and we have named our group "Kanagawa Wind Ensemble" in the hope that we can give back what we have learned, even if only a little, to the wonderful areas of Kanagawa and Machida, which have nurtured our studies and development as musicians. I named the group "Kanagawa Wind Ensemble. As a permanent conductor, we will be teaming up with an up-and-coming young conductor, Tsubasa Kurihara, to unravel the history of brass band music. This year's program, the first in the series, will feature masterpieces of brass band music that have been passed down through the ages, with a focus on the U.S. and Japan.
