Reconstruction Concert 2023 Unofficial

The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March 11, 2011.
　After the earthquake, which caused enormous damage, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, while suffering from the disaster itself, has continued to perform at evacuation centers and in the streets, staying close to those who have suffered from the disaster. This year, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra will hold another concert, the "Reconstruction Concert for Everyone," in support of the orchestra's performance activities and in prayer for the recovery of the affected areas since 2012.
This year's concert will be held under the theme of "Recovery of Hearts and Minds through the Power of Music," and as the name suggests, the concert was created "together" with everyone by soliciting ideas to liven up the concert, including guests, conductors, and performance program, mainly through the website you are currently viewing. As the name implies, we have been creating the website "together" with you. This year's concert will be a collection of the many messages we have received since 2012, and our goal is to pass on the memories of the disaster without letting them fade away, and to open up a new era for the concert.

The Maruhon Maki Art Terrace in Ishinomaki City, where the concert will be held, was rebuilt in April 2021 for the first time in 10 years, after the city was forced to demolish its large cultural facilities due to the tsunami caused by the earthquake. It is a place where Ishinomaki citizens' hopes and aspirations for reconstruction over the past 10 years have come to fruition. It is a great pleasure for us to be able to hold this concert in such a place.
