After graduating from Seijo University with a degree in Law, Ryusuke Kawakami worked as a salaried employee before graduating from the Tokyo College of Music with a degree in Music Composition and Conducting (Conducting).
He won the second prize and a special prize at the 2nd Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition held last year.
He has studied conducting with Kenichiro Kobayashi, Junichi Hirokami, Yasuhiko Shiozawa, Masanori Mikawa, and Yasufumi Tokito; cello with Miraiko Mimori, Ryuzo Yagishima, and Mitsuru Omori; piano with Nobuyuki Jiwaki and Koichi Yamashiro.
Studied music theory under Noriko Hisada.
