Nymphaeal 18th Performance

The 18th Nymphéale concert will feature Maya Kimura, a 25-stringed koto player who performed at the 10th and 15th Nymphéale concerts, in a concert themed on "Songs. She will be joined by Yukie Sawada, violinist, who performed at the 17th concert, to present a fresh tone piece for 25-string koto and violin, including a Bach piece, and Miyuki Ito will perform a new piece for 25-string koto based on the poem "In this Darkness" by Dozo Tachihara. Ito's work also uses her voice, allowing the audience to experience the beautiful acoustic world of Kimura's voice and performance.

The 25-string koto, completed in 1991, has a unique sound that includes the high harmonics characteristic of the koto, and the unique sound it produces when the strings are shaken when plucked continues to inspire composers to create sonically challenging works.
