Yuko Mizutagawa, an internationally acclaimed cellist, and Tsunao Yamai, a Noh performer of the Kinshun School, the oldest school of Noh theater with a history of 1,400 years, will give a comm cultural concert at Himawari no Sato!
For the past 20 years, Mizutagawa has been collaborating with Noh performers, while Yamai has been innovating tradition through ambitious collaborations with other genres.
This concert will feature three different programs: a solo classical performance (Mizutagawa), a Noh performance (Yamai), and a collaboration of traditional arts from the East and West.
The dancing figures, led by a single cello, will enchant us with tranquil yet varied scenes.
Yuko Miyagawa [cello
Yuko Miyagawa began playing the cello at the age of five, following the wishes of her grandfather, Hidemaro Konoe, the "founder of the symphony orchestra." After graduating from Toho Gakuen Girls' High School with a degree in music and taking a diploma course at the same school, she went on to graduate first class from the Mozarteum Salzburg Conservatory, where she received her Master's Degree in Music and was awarded the title of Magister. At the same time, she began her performance activities in Europe while studying at the soloist course at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She won the first prize at the 6th Tokyo International Chamber Music Competition, the first prize at the Calabria Art Festival Competition in Italy, the second prize at the Pinerolo International Chamber Music Competition, the Baroque Saal Prize, and many others. She has collaborated with artists from different fields such as traditional Japanese music, and is also active as a member of "Ensemble Φ", "Ichi Sansui", and "Trio SolLa".
Currently based in Japan and Germany, she has been invited to music festivals in various countries as a soloist and chamber musician. She has also performed concertos with orchestras in Egypt and Jordan, and has taught at local music conservatories. In addition to his active concert activities, he continues to visit and perform at juvenile reformatories, hospices, and other facilities as his life's work.
Yamai Tsunao [Noh performer of the Konparu school
He is the holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Asset (general designation). Since his first performance at the age of five, he has performed numerous major and secret Noh plays. He has collaborated with many Western and Japanese artists, and has performed in the 2011 NHK Taiga Drama "E" and the 2016 NHK/HK Taiga Drama "Sanada".
