CONSCIOUSNESS" is a project born from the encounter and collaboration between composer Yannick Paget and Koji Hashimoto, a Kyoto University researcher and one of the few string theory experts in Japan, author and physics advisor for science fiction films such as "Shin Ultraman". It is a project born from the encounter and collaboration of two people.
String theory is the theory that everything that exists in our world is composed of tiny particles called elementary particles, and that there is only one element among these elementary particles = vibrating strings. How those strings are put together determines everything in the universe we live in. Pagé's exposure to this concept changed the way he looked at the world, and thus the basis of his symphony was formed.

▼ About the Performance
Four screens and a performance space woven by 43 musicians. The audience is invited to join in the mix and drift through this unique immersive concert experience.
Through sound and image, the audience will see and experience complex physics concepts reduced to an immersive symphony of sound and image, as the orchestra explores the four fundamental interactions (electromagnetism, nuclear forces, and gravity) that create and sustain the universe.
Yannick Paget will conduct at the center of the audience and musicians, transforming the orchestra's performance into electronic sound in real time, while simultaneously playing percussion in the second movement using a ceramic instrument (theramophone) he created with ceramic artist Toru Kurokawa.
The screen surrounding the performance space, live images projected on the screen, creative lighting, and other devices by the technical team will further enliven the effective and different space that is the hallmark of N'SO KYOTO.
