Orchestra Nipponica 20th Anniversary Serial Concert II
The 41st Concert
2022/12/11(su.) 14:30 Starting
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of Orchestra Nipponica.
To commemorate our 20th anniversary, we have planned a series of three concerts, which we have programmed to allow you to enjoy the diverse appeal of Japanese orchestral works and to give you a bird's-eye view of the history of orchestral creation. The ambitious selection includes the world premiere of a commissioned work, the Japanese premiere of a work whose score was discovered last year, and a work that will be performed again for the first time in 90 years.
The December concert series II (41 concerts) features Saburo Moroi's "Symphony No. 2," which is considered the first "real" symphony by a Japanese composer, as well as a collection of works that are rich in individuality. While each of these works has won the Akutagawa Composition Award and the Otaka Award, opportunities to perform them again have been limited. Tomoki Sakata, an up-and-coming young artist, will be the soloist on the piano for the Kojijijiba piece.
