～Synopsis.
The story takes place in a black neighborhood called Catfish Alley.
A rowdy clown kills his friends in a betting dispute and runs away.
Beth is left alone with her lover, Porgy, a crippled beggar.
Beth, who has grown accustomed to life on the side streets, deepens her love for Porgy.
However, Porgy stabs and murders Crown, who comes to take Beth back, and is taken away by the police.
