Band Richt

As this was the 10th concert of the Licht Orchestra, the program was composed around the theme of "light (licht)," which is the origin of the orchestra's name.
The highlight of this memorable concert was the opening piece, "Lichtquelle". Lichtquelle" means "light source" in German, and this piece was commissioned to Daisuke Shimizu, a composer who has written many wind band pieces including "Man on the Moon," and was written for the Licht Orchestra. Please enjoy this world premiere performance.

The concert will also include a famous brass band piece, a Christmas medley, and the fourth movement of "Pines of Rome," which will be performed in the second part, featuring a banda. Please come and join us.

Band Richt is a brass band formed by graduates of Tokyo Metropolitan Toshima Senior High School and Waseda University Senior High School, who are mutual students of conductor Akio Toyoda. Currently, the brass band is not only an alumni band of the two schools, but also a general organization with about 50 members, ranging from university students to adults, and is active with many friends. The band is based in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, and continues to perform at music classes for elementary school students, to which it has been invited several times.
The name of the orchestra, "Richt" means "light source" in German and is associated with the name of the conductor.
