The word "England" may conjure up a variety of images in your mind. The New Japan Symphony Orchestra presents its 109th Subscription Concert, a program filled with the diverse charms of England. The colorful patchwork was put together by Yuri Nitta, who has worked with the orchestra on many occasions. Under her elegant direction, we are sure you will enjoy the poetic world of British music. Of special note is Walton's Viola Concerto, which will be performed for the first time by this group. This will be the second collaboration with Daisuke Inobe, who will be the soloist. How will Mr. Inobe cook up Walton's music, which evokes loneliness, melancholy, and overflowing passion? The shimmering sound that Mr. Inobe spins out in various shades will surely make you rediscover the charm of the viola as an instrument.
